What they said about the projects undertaken:
ALAM - Associação Lajeana de Assistência Ao Menor, from Lajes
"We tried to implement the 'Cuida – Comunidade Unida contra o Crack' project by giving lectures and clinics for the purpose of educating and providing learning opportunities for children and teenagers. Fourteen lectures were given in city schools and clinics in different activities. Nearly 3,600 people were involved in the project activities. We believe that our purpose has been achieved and we will continue to work on this mission which is not only ours, but the entire community's.
Leonir Zulianello, president of ALAM |
CUFA - Central Única de Favelas, in Florianópolis
"Besides carrying out our projects, we managed to implement clinics in other entities, thereby disseminating the street culture that enables the restoration of active citizenship. From this work came the Trocando Ideias circuit, which is targeted at a young audience, speaks the same language and goes where young people are. We provide them with information about the sad crack situation, we show them the figures and therefore work for prevention. The discussions that arise from this are quite rich and very interesting.
Edson Amaral, general coordinator of CUFA in Santa Catarina |

ISPEA - Instituto São Pedro, in Bagé
"We organize important activities, such as a toll collection on June 2nd, with the participation of teachers, students and some parents. During this event we distributed pamphlets, stickers and wristbands on the 'Crack, Nem Pensar' campaign. Later, on June 21st and 22nd, we promoted a drug fighting event including lectures, audiovisual presentations and a dramatization about drug use enacted by teenagers. The mobilization of everyone, especially the teenagers, was gratifying and we noticed that the matter was not restricted to the district. It went further and reached the entire frontier region.
Brother Pedro de Melo, director of ISPEA |
Lar Emiliano Lopes, de Passo Fundo
"We adapted the drug prevention project we had been working on for four years to the 'Crack, Nem Pensar' campaign. Unfortunately, this drug scenario is quite close to us, as our institution is located in a region full of crack-selling spots. We started social inclusion through the use of music and we tried to raise awareness throughout the entire community. We have our orchestra perform to attract attention to the problem. This campaign was essential to giving our work exposure.
