The results of the "Crack, Nem Pensar" campaign, conducted by Grupo RBS in 2009, were encouraging enough for the company to launch the second stage of the institutional campaign in 2010. More than 2 million crack's rocks were taken out of circulation in Rio Grande do Sul and in Santa Catarina, the number of reported drug dealers has increased and the search for medical help has grown, showing that drug addiction prevention and awareness-raising efforts are paying off. The campaign was relaunched on March 30th, 2010, and a number of actions have been taken since then, aiming at the implementation of appropriate laws, treatment and seeking a definitive solution for the matter.

"Dia D contra o Crack" is noteworthy among the actions performed and was held on September 26th in 14 cities across Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina. On this date, communicators and other professionals from Grupo RBS went to the streets to mobilize communities to fight against drugs. Furthermore, based on news items and stories carried by the company's media vehicles, society in general was invited to organize actions in order to strengthen the event. Walks, bicycle rides, mobilization of schools for the distribution of stickers and other actions were performed.

Appreciation of the "Crack, Nem Pensar" campaign

• President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva gives Grupo RBS a diploma for "Mérito pela Valorização da Vida" on June 19th, during Semana Nacional de Prevenção às Drogas.

• The Federal Government has allocated BRL 410 million for the implementation of an action plan in the fields of prevention, fighting and treatment for the purpose of training health teams, providing treatment to users, and supporting research in the prevention and fight against drug dealing.

• Organization of Congresso Internacional sobre Crack e Outras Drogas, Conicrack, on July 7th, promoted by the Associação do Ministério Público and UFRGS.

• Opening of the Instituto Crack Nem Pensar on November 23rd.

Instituto Crack, Nem Pensar

Instituto Crack, Nem Pensar was opened on November 23rd, 2010, through a partnership involving seven institutions: Associação Catarinense do Ministério Público (ACMP), Associação do Ministério Público RS (AMP/RS), Associação dos Juízes do Rio Grande do Sul (Ajuris), Associação dos Magistrados Catarinenses (AMC), Fundação Maurício Sirotsky Sobrinho, Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC) and Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). This initiative reinforces Grupo RBS's institutional flagship and has the purpose of focusing on the fight against crack, stimulating the dissemination of knowledge about the topic, regarding prevention and fighting drug dealing.
